Sinking Foundation

spencer iowa downtown

If you have a sinking foundation, you need to have it repaired as soon as possible before even more serious problems arise. Some foundation settlement is normal, but it’s not normal when it occurs excessively. You may be wondering how you will know if you have a sinking foundation. If you have doors which don’t open or close properly, have cracks forming along the corners of windows, or have cracks in your brickwork, you may have a sinking foundation.

A sinking foundation, if left untreated, could jeopardize the structural integrity of your entire home!

Spencer, IA

Spencer is a city in the state of Iowa, and also the county seat of Clay County. It is situated at the confluence of the Little Sioux and Ocheyedan Rivers. The population ended up being 11,233 in the 2010 census, a drop from 11,317 in the 2000 census. Spencer is well known as the home of the Clay County Fair, held yearly in September, averaging over 300,000 guests every year. The town’s library cat, Dewey Readmore Books, is famous all over the world.

Spencer was rated the 10th best place to live in the United States by Relocate-America.com’s “America’s Top 100 Places to Live for 2007.”

In 2004, the U.S. federal government put Spencer’s downtown business district on the National Register of Historic Places. Also in 2004, the State Historical Society of Iowa authorized the Spencer Downtown Cultural District as one of the first 8 such projects throughout the state. Spencer’s proposal for this designation included remodeling the existing Spencer Middle School building into a multi-purpose facility with a senior citizen center, inexpensive housing units, and also a restored facade. Future work on the old Middle School project entails refurbishment of the historic auditorium. Also a part of the State Historical Society designation is the city’s reconstruction of its Grand Avenue bridge to include commissioned stained glass plates in an Art Deco style.

Current cultural points of interest in Spencer include the Spencer Community Theater, the Parker Historical Museum, public art displays, and the Bogenrief Glass Studio. Arts on Grand is a nonprofit organization assisting local area artists with a gallery shop, exhibits, classes, workshops, tours, fundraising events, along with other activities. The Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts (CRVA) relocated from Detroit to Spencer in 2007.

Basement Waterproofing in Lincoln, NE

I just wanted to say how happy I am with the work that was done in my basement today. The guys were fabulous. They were so nice and cleaned up the basement after the drainage system & pump were put in even better than it was before they got here. I can’t say enough good about your company. You have helped me through the last couple of years, and I feel very confident with your company and would recommend you to anyone that may be having water issues in their basement. Thanks for everything! I can now look forward to rain again, not fear it!
